Design for a summer residence on the island of Solta in South Croatia. Working with an existing building, the challenge was to work with the existing structure whilst maximising the landscaped areas around the plot. The steeply sloping site allows for a two storey property with views across the Adriatic sea. The proposal seeks to work with local stone contrasting its rugged finish with a smooth render to the upper level. A playful interpretation of the traditional pitched roof house is proposed to the volumes of the upper bedrooms allowing for vaulted ceilings within.
